Like the rest of the U.S., South Carolina is seeing epidemic-level increases in the occurrence of mental and behavioral health issues among our youth. Unfortunately, there are limited referral options among child and adolescent psychiatrists in the state, dramatically impacting the timely continuation of care for these young patients. This is why we exist- we bridge the gap to psychiatric care for youth in South Carolina.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Youth Access to Psychiatry Program (YAP-P) is a free pediatric mental health access program offering a provider-to-provider consultation line, clinical trainings, and behavioral health resources to pediatric primary care providers in South Carolina.<\/p>

This collaborative program supports providers in the identification and management of youth mental health challenges, improving the availability and quality of mental health care for our youth.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cYAP-P had its genesis in an Aiken-Barnwell area face-to-face network formed years ago between pediatricians and child and adolescent psychiatrists to collaborate on our more challenging patients. It was successful, and the model has grown to become YAP-P and encompass the whole state. It\u2019s been so gratifying \u2013 truly a worthwhile program that benefits both providers and patients alike.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
