Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics Making the CASE

To improve the behavioral and mental health support for youth in SC, MUSC Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics hosts a CASE (Collaborative and Supportive
Education) seminar on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 12-1pm. Each seminar features a novel topic presented by an expert guest, with an aim to improve the ability of pediatric providers and other community professionals to address day-to-day psychosocial issues of children, adolescents, and their families through collaboration. 1 hour of CME or CEU will be offered to participants after each seminar at no-cost. Identifying and Caring for Children and Adolescents with Anxiety and Anxiety Disorders – Enduring

Participants will be able to differentiate between anxiety and anxiety disorders and learn strategies to effectively manage mild-to-moderate anxiety and how to co-manage patients with more severe conditions and/or common co-occurring conditions.

CALM for Pediatric Providers: Counseling on Access to Lethal Means to Prevent Youth Suicide

This course addresses one relatively simple, concrete way that pediatricians and other pediatric health care providers can reduce suicide: help families reduce youths’ access to things at home that could most easily kill or seriously harm them.

Autism Identification and Collaborative Care

This course will increase knowledge among pediatric clinicians on evidence-based
practices for screening, evaluation, referral and management of autistic children and youth and their families.

Identifying and Managing ADHD with Co-occurring
Conditions

Through this course, pediatric health care providers will learn about common conditions that co-occur with or have similar symptoms with ADHD and consideration for ADHD treatment and management in the context of these conditions.

Practical Strategies for Implementing Trauma-Informed Care

The course explains the connection between relational health and trauma-informed care and identifies strategies for providers and caregivers to promote relational health.

Caring for American Indian and Alaska Native Children and Adolescents

The course will describe the impact of barriers to optimal access, trauma, and community health factors on the health of American Indian/Alaska Native children and youth, which often result in health differences across a child’s lifespan.
